Flood Insurance

Protects against damage due to flooding in a disaster.

Flood Insurance

Excluded under standard homeowners and renters insurance policies, flood insurance coverage may be purchased as a separate policy to complement home insurance.

Meant to guard against water and other damages that result from flooding, flood insurance is sold by the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and a few private insurers, and includes protection of up to $250,000 on a home’s structure and $100,000 on personal possessions.

For policyholders who own more expensive homes; those living in communities not participating in the NFIP, and those needing additional (or “excess”) coverage, some insurance companies offer special flood insurance policies that protect or enhance these types of needs.
